Day 8

 Day #8 5/18

I got an early start today and went to breakfast to make sure I got an omelet and it was delicious as usual. After eating I head over to the library to get some work done on my computer. I got some work done on the infographics I’m making and then I did some more research. I focused on yoga again and learned a little about its long history and I think if a type of exercise stays around for 5 thousand years it shows how good yoga is for humans. I also learned about a biochemist named Jessi Inchauspe and the work she does involves diet and its effect on the body and mind. She had mental health issues and learned that her episodes happened when her glucose spiked and she now helps patients with similar issues. She writes about the negative effects of glucose spikes both mentally and physically, and what happens is after you eat, your body is trying to process the sugar and fat and so your glucose level spikes which makes people tired and causes them to be hungrier sooner, giving into to cravings. There is a surprising amount of impact on your mood from these spikes in blood sugar and they can even contribute to panic attacks. I then finished up in the library and decided to go for a short hike up the ski hill so I could get outside for a little while but still be ready for my baseball game. I did my daily journal up top and luckily the breeze kept the bugs away, then I came back by the rail trail. It was a shorter day today because of my baseball game so after the hike, I did another short yoga cooldown and began to get ready.
